Sunday, March 26 APRA Technical Seminar — 8:30 a.m. to | 1:30 (Piedmont Ballroom, Hilton Charlotte Center City) Mohammad Samii, Sammy’s Auto Electric, Operational Theory and Common Pattern Failures of Modern Starters and Alternators— Operational theory and common pattern failures of some modern starters and alternators, and detailed explanation of the PCM activation and control of the various GM, Ford, Daimler/Chrysler and some import charging systems. This class, intended for the “hands-on” rebuilder, covers the basics of the slip-ring replacement of various popular rotors to the more advanced level, with a brief description of Data-Base Communications, and explains how regulators communicate with the PCM and the information is transmitted between multiple modules and instrument cluster. Actual captured scope patterns and picture of the meters on live system will be used to explain systems operational principles and give rebuilders a deeper understanding of various charging/starting systems.
