ERA Board of Directors Meeting Oct. 17, 2007 Start Time: 6:33 PM CDT Attendees: Ronnie Charnes, Joe Bradish, Kenny Turner, Jim Thomas, Henry Henke, Mike Dietrich, Dan Smith, Mike Schroeder and Alan Melton AGENDA 1.) APRA Show & Booth Plans were finalized for the upcoming APRA Show. Alan Melton and Mike Schroeder will take care of shipping necessary items. Jim Thomas, Alan Melton and Dan Smith will help Joe Davis set up on Friday morning. The ERA booth will be set up on Saturday morning with ERA members in attendance helping with this job. Jim Thomas will bring a laptop computer for displaying the ERA website. ERA portfolios will be given away to new members as an incentive. Portfolios and ERA jackets will be sold at the booth; jackets for $40 & portfolios at a price to be determined. Since the first four hours of the show have been the busiest in the past and Jim was assured he would get necessary help with this time slot. 2.) Joe Davis Seminar Report Joe Davis was not at the board meeting, so Joe Bradish reported that Memphis had 27 attendees with $2,610.00 in receipts. Minneapolis had 47 attendees with $4,875.00 in receipts. 3.) Preparation For The Next ERA Newsletter – Sponsored by Boston Auto Electric Jim Thomas expressed appreciation from the ERA to Paul of Boston Auto Electric for his generous sponsorship of the next newsletter. Dan Smith volunteered to contribute the final article needed for its completion. Alan Melton suggested promoting website sales and the “Counterman’s Guide” in the newsletter. 4.) New Members Jerry Kieffer was not in attendance at the meeting. Jim Thomas previously suggested to Jerry Kieffer that he assign board members to help with calls to non-renewing members. Jim Thomas is now helping with this and has asked Darlene Schroeder to purchase some “final notice” stickers to be attached to the third notice. Ronnie Charnes asked that when a member doesn’t renew, we send a self-addressed envelope asking why they didn’t renew and what the ERA could do better in the future. They could respond to this by email or fax also. 5.) Grand Rapids Planning Meeting Report (See Attachments) Ronnie Charnes gave a report on the Grand Rapids Planning Meeting of Oct. 6th. In addition to Poly Shea, six rebuilders and five suppliers attended (including Dick Vensel on a conference call). Ronnie referred to the attached documents which presented the tentative show schedule. He and Joe Bradish commented that the hotel and convention center were exceptionally nice and would be a treat for those who attend. 6.) New Business The APRA has approached the ERA about joining the APRA. Paul Schuck, Mike Hill and Dennis Jacinto requested a meeting with the ERA. Jim Thomas, Mike Schroeder and Alan Melton from the ERA had a phone conference with the aforementioned APRA members about this topic. The APRA suggested a second meeting at the APRA convention to further this discussion. After much discussion (some very passionate), Dan Smith made a motion that a vote be taken to not meet with the APRA Board of Governors in Las Vegas in regard to any future closer associations between the two organizations. Hank Henke seconded the motion. Dan Smith stressed that this motion did not intend to prohibit any future meetings with the APRA about other topics. The vote results were: In favor of not meeting with the APRA were Ronnie Charnes, Joe Bradish, Kenny Turner, Hank Henke, Mike Dietrich and Dan Smith. Opposed was Alan Melton.
