A Look at 1992 Previa Starting Systems Part I Courtesy Toyota Motor Corporation Disassembly of Starter Remove field frame with armature from magnetic switch assembly. Remove the nut, and disconnect the lead wire from the magnetic switch terminal. Remove the two through bolts. Pull out the field frame with the armature from the magnetic switch assembly. Remove the O-ring. Remove starter housing from magnetic switch assembly. Remove the two screws. Remove the starter housing with the pin- ion gear (1.6 kW), idler gear, bearing and clutch assembly. 1.4 kW Type Remove clutch assembly and gears from starter housing. Remove steel ball and spring. Using a magnetic finger, remove the spring and steel ball from the clutch shaft hole. Remove the two screws and pull the end cover with O-ring off the field frame. Armature Coil Inspect that commutator is not grounded. Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the brush from the brush holder. Disconnect the four brushes and remove the brush holder. Remove armature from field frame as shown at the upper right. Inspection of Starter \__No continuity
