Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is the routing of the alternator positive output wire. The wire may be improperly routed against the oil dipstick. Chaffing over time could cause the cable to short circuit. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended inspection and repair procedures when required ensuring that the positive output cable cannot chaff against the dipstick or other engine components.
