LEXIE } TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: S-1491 S-80280 Applications: 2004 — 2007 Cadillac CTS 3.6L 2004 — 2009 Cadillac SRX 3.6L Conditions: The operator of the vehicle may complain that the engine fails to crank or start; additionally the key may be stuck in the ignition cylinder lock. The technician may observe one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes stored in the engine control module: P0318 P1629 U1040 U1064 U1153 U1192 U1300 Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is an intermittent connection in either Ignition 1 power feed (circuits 5290) or Class 2 (circuits 1807) wiring to the engine control module. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended diagnostic and repair procedures which include verifying that there is battery voltage at the engine control module fuse and throughout the circuits between the fuse and the engine control module on circuits 5290. If the 5290 circuits measures properly then check for open an open circuit condition in the 1807 circuitry. The condition may be associated with the main power train relay or any circuit within the above mentioned networks.
