Cause: The PCM in the above applications was modified as a running change. The above applications have the starter crank cycle controlled by the PCM. The PCM will not allow the starter to function if it receives a signal for: – the anti-theft system – that the transmission is not in park (neutral) – poor contact at the shifter switch – the starter relay fails to make contact – high wire resistance (corrosion over time) Correction: When checking for no start or hard starting, follow the manufacture’s recommended diagnostic procedures.
