chiwia . & | [| { 8 | LD f TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: S-2057 and S-2082 Applications: 2002 Ford Explorer 4.0L 2002 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L Condition: 1) On vehicles produced between March 18, 2001 and April 3, 2002 with a 4.0L engine the following conditions may exist: – no start – theft system activates and locks out vehicle operation – unable to program keys for ignition module 2) On vehicles produced between 2002 and 2003 some vehicles may exhibit a hard start/no start condition after a short hot soak period. Cause: For condition 1 the power control module may be interfering with the SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft System due to the factory installed calibration. For condition 2 the PCM calibration file also requires updating (excluding PCM # 12650D and #12650D84) Correction: To check if the calibration is the issue, first check the labelling near the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal and see if there is a label indicating that the Power Control Module has been updated per TSB 01- 24-5. If not have the vehicle’s PCM programmed to the current calibration level following the manufacture’s recommended procedures.
