LEXIE } TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: S-8686 S-80019 Applications: 2004 Acura TL VIN 19UUA6***4A000001 to 19UUA6***4A058862 Conditions: The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions: – Excessive cranking. – The engine is hard to start. Cause: Two potential causes for the above conditions are either: – Acontaminated fuel pressure regulator, causing the regulator to stick and fuel pressure to take time to build up. – An exhaust back flow into the intake manifold at shut down resulting in a poor fuel/air mixture at the subsequent start up. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended diagnostic and repair procedures, which may include replacing the fuel pressure regulator (manufacturer’s number 17052-SEP-A00) and/or updating the engine control module (power train control module). Vehicles with VIN numbers 19UUA6***4A041208 to 19UUA6***4A058862 have the update fuel pressure regulator installed but the software update was not available at the time of manufacturing.
