The technician may, erroneously replace a fuel injection pump or be unable to determine the cause for the problem. Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is an incorrect reading from the vehicle’s fuel pressure regulator. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended diagnostic and repair procedures, which includes cleaning the area around the fuel pressure regulator prior to removing it (to avoid contamination) and inspecting the fuel pressure regulator for internal debris/metal contamination.
