chiwia . & | [| { 8 | anees / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-8245 A-8304 A-8307 S-8221 S-8345 S-8358 Applications: 1992 — 1993 Hyundai Sonata Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions: – The engine does not crank or cranks very slowly. – The alternator belt chirps at start up. – The battery drains very quickly for no apparent reason when the vehicle is parked. Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is the cooling fan relay wiring. There is an inline diode in the engine wiring, which can corrode and become either an open circuit or a short circuit. The failure of the diode can result in the cooling fans to keep operating, with the ignition in the “off position until the battery is dead. Correction: Inspect the engine wiring, including the inline diode. If required, replace the inline diode (part number 91798-33000) following the manufacturer’s recommended procedures.
