LXE } TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: S-8477 Applications: 1995 — 1997 Mazda Millenia 2.3L (KJ Engine) Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of a grinding noise during cranking. Replacing the starter does not remedy the problem. Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is the flywheel ring gear chamfer. The factory installed ring gear had insufficient chamfering causing abnormal wear, resulting in noise. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedure for inspecting and replacing the flywheel (drive plate). The dealer part number for the flywheel, should it require replacing, is FX01-19-020A.
