ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, June 15, 2005 The meeting began at 7:40 pm via conference call. Chris Thompson, Mike Dietrich, Alan Melton, Jody Nava, Dan Smith, Mike Schroeder and Bob Thomas were in attendance. Jody Nava joined the meeting to represent the southeast region and discuss modifications to the bylaws. Mike Dietrich represented the southwest region. The first item on the agenda was the 2006 show. Dan Smith said he had spoken to Polly Shea and she confirmed the Charlotte Convention Center, located downtown, has been secured for the weekend of March 24-26. There was some discussion of settling finances with the ERE. Mike Schroeder pointed out the association still owes the ERE for show admission of members that attended, while the ERE owes the association for seminar tuitions paid during registration. Dan said he would bring this up in his next phone meeting with Polly. The second item on the agenda was the fall seminars. Bob Thomas brought up the fact that only one host had completed the planning of their seminar, and it was not next on the schedule. Dan Smith said he knew Paul Lavoie was just about finished planning the Boston seminar, and he would get the specifics in writing in time to make the July issue of the ERE. The other seminars were also discussed, including the Phoenix seminar, which has no host and must be planned by the association. The final agenda item was the proposed revision of the bylaws. Jody Nava stated that she had formed a bylaws committee, which at this point included only Scott Fureman and herself. They had already presented a proposed set of revised bylaws via email, but after a short discussion it became obvious that they had based their revision on the very first draft of the original bylaws, not the current version. Bob said the current bylaws are posted on the website, where they can be viewed by anyone. Mike Schroeder and Alan Melton expressed concern over presenting a complete rewrite of the bylaws at once, and not providing the current document for comparison. Jody agreed to break the bylaws into sections, and present revisions alongside the current document, one section at a time. Everyone agreed the Board of Advisors should be included in the discussion. Bob advised the group that the website already has a special forum titled ERA Board Topics. He said it could be easily activated so only Advisory Board members would see it. All agreed this would be the best method of discussing bylaw revisions. Jody also suggested that a schedule of the rotation of regional vice-presidents attending the trustee meetings be made. Bob said he would take care of that schedule, since he sends out the meeting notices. The meeting concluded at 9:45 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 6 at 7:30 pm eastern time. Respectfully Submitted, Bob Thomas, Secretary
