ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, July 20, 2005 The meeting began at 7:40 pm via conference call. Chris Thompson, Mike Schroeder, Dan Smith, Alan Melton, AJ Campbell, Larry Hagemeister and Bob Thomas were in attendance. The 2005 show was discussed and Dan reported he had not spoken to Polly since the last meeting. Dan questioned the function of the show committee, since it has not been used for past shows. It was suggested the show committee should be available to help in the planning of the show and also plan the association’s booth at the show. The show planning meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, August 27″ in Charlotte. The Advisory Board Meeting, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, follow the planning meeting, was discussed next. Three items have been placed on the agenda for that meeting: 1 – A vote will be taken to approve the revised bylaws, currently being worked on through the use of the ERA Board Forum on the website. All advisory board members are encouraged to provide input. This special forum is only visible to persons logged in as one of the advisory board members, so feel free to make your suggestions known. Other website users can not see this forum on their screen. 2 — Possible cooperation with the APRA on select events in 2006. More will be known following Mike’s meeting with the 2005 & 2006 APRA Chairmen. 3 — Possible sale of the James Halderman book, Automotive Electricity and Electronics on the association’s website. The author has offered this book to the association at a deep discount, and the publisher, Prentice Hall, has offered to drop ship copies direct to the buyers. The upcoming seminars were again discussed, with emphasis on finalizing details for as many seminars as possible before the September newspaper goes to press. AJ asked if Regional VP’s needed to pay to attend seminars. After a discussion, Dan made a motion that members of the Executive Board of Directors who attend seminars should register, but should not be required to pay tuition. The reasoning was that the officers are already giving up their time, and paying their own expenses in performance of their duties, including helping out at the seminars. Alan seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously. The membership drive was discussed at length. It was decided to proceed with the printing of new brochures using crossed Canadian and American flags on the front panel. The drive will again begin in September and go to the end of December.
