ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, September 7, 2005 The meeting began at 7:40 pm via conference call. Mike Schroeder, Chris Thompson, Dan Smith, AJ Campbell, Larry Hagemeister, Alan Melton, and Bob Thomas were in attendance. Leonard Montano from Tucson Alternator also attended the meeting to discuss hosting the seminar scheduled for Phoenix in November The first item discussed was the remaining 2005 seminars. Alan had previously talked to Leonard about helping to set up the Phoenix seminar. Leonard volunteered their building for the seminar if it could be moved to Tucson. He also volunteered a tour of their rebuilding facility for all attendees. All agreed it was the best solution since attendance at the last seminar held in Phoenix was very sparse. The association will not expect Tucson Alternator to pay all the expenses. It was also noted that the New Orleans seminar has been cancelled for obvious reasons. All other events are on track. As of Wednesday night, 38 were pre-registered for Boston. Bob noted that prices for the seminars in 2006 may have to be increased, noting that Joe’s transportation costs have increased considerably with the cost of fuel. Mike suggested that we consider paying Wes for the considerable amount of time he spends maintaining the website. Bob suggested a figure of $500 per month would pay him for part of the time he spends, and still stay within the amount budgeted for the website. Everyone agreed that Wes has done an excellent job with the site, far exceeding everyone’s expectations, and he should be paid, even if only for part of the time he spends. Chris suggested that Wes be contacted and asked to begin invoicing the association $500 each month for website maintenance. The next item discussed was the possibility of producing a DVD ofa seminar. The idea had been suggested a number of times as a way of reaching rebuilders who do not attend seminars. Wes proposed a plan to tape both the Allendale and Minneapolis seminars, and have his nephew produce the DVD. Wes has film experience and his nephew has experience in production of both tapes and DVDs. Bob had suggested the Friday evening class be used for the first DVD to test the waters. Based on an estimated cost of around $2,000 for the project, which includes rental of a professional camera, tripod, wireless microphone, tapes and the actual production of the DVD ina studio. There will then be a cost of $5 for each DVD from the master, which includes labeling and packaging. Based on a selling price equal to the cost of attending the seminar, it would take the sale of about 60 DVDs to recover the production costs. Pricing and compensation for Joe will be discussed after the DVD is produced.
