ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Wednesday, February 15, 2006 The meeting began at 7:40 pm EST via conference call. Dan Smith, Mike Schroeder, Chris Thompson, Ronnie Charnes, AJ Campbell, Larry Hagemeister, Mike Dietrich, Alan Melton and Bob Thomas were in attendance. The first item discussed was the upcoming show and ERA booth. Bob said that Wes had pointed out the price for an Internet connection in the Charlotte Convention Center is about $1,200. In addition, a second connection at $595 would be required to do the website seminar Saturday morning in a different room. The $595 was a special price Polly had negotiated for the seminar room only. He also said Wes was working on a way around spending close to $2,000 for Internet service for the weekend. Dan said Polly was working with several exhibitors who wanted to use Internet to see if an alternative could be found. Dan reported from Polly that the block of rooms at the Hilton was 85% sold out. He noted that the rest of the hotel was also sold out, meaning the block could not be enlarged, and Polly expected the remainming rooms to be gone before the reservation deadline of February 22″. Everyone took this as a sign of a good turnout for the show. Mike Schroeder suggested an “ERA Member” counter mat might be a good give-a-way for association members. Alan said he knows of a company that makes counter mats with advertising. Everyone agreed and Bob said he would pass the idea on to Show Booth Committee Chairman Scott Fureman, who was unable to make the meeting. Mike S. said he had not been able to connect with Jeff Reynolds to discuss the use of the ERA website by AERAC members. He said he would keep trying to get Jeff on the phone. Mike S. said he had received an offer from Roadway Express to give ERA Member exhibitors special pricing on their freight to and from Charlotte. Bob asked Dan to get a list of exhibitors from Polly, and he agreed to compile a list of ERA member exhibitors so it can be forwarded to Roadway. Mike S. said the APRA had worked out pricing for their two web-based information services which cover wiring diagrams and service bulletins. He said the price for non-members for each service is $200/month or $2,000/year. ERA members would pay $50/month or $480/year. APRA members pay $25/month or $275/year. Mike S. also said the association is now tax exempt in Missouri, meaning association materials and supplies will be free of sales tax in the future so long as they are purchased within the state. Alan reported he has talked to all current Board of Advisors members and has picked a Nomination Committee. He promised to hold a meeting and discuss a list of candidates for the open positions before the next Board of Directors meeting March 1. Alan also noted that the minimum and maximum size of the Board of Advisors was absent in the revised set of bylaws as posted on the website. He noted they should be added before the bylaws are passed.
