‘dixie verse gy TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-1548 A-1645 A-1705 A-1738 TBA Applications: 2004 — 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 6.6L Diesel 2004 — 2010 GMC Sierra 6.6L Diesel 2006 — 2010 Chevrolet Express (G Series Van) 6.6L Diesel 2006 — 2010 GMC Savana (G Series Van) 6.6L Diesel Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain that there is an accessory belt chip on start up (not the normal chirp on shut down). Cause: A possible cause for the above condition on the 2004/2005 Silverado or Sierra trucks, with an engine produced before June 2004 is that the rear bracket for the A/C compressor/power steering pump bracket may be machined slightly out of specification, causing the power steering pump to be misaligned, forcing the accessory drive belt to run misaligned with the crankshaft pulley grooves. This creates a chirp or squeak at the point of interference between the pulley and belt. On vehicles built after June 2004 the A/C compressor/power steering pump bracket has been fixed but may still create a chirping noise and require inspection to ensure that the pulleys are properly pressed onto the power steering pump.
