mxIe ) TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: $S-2103 Applications: Condition: Cause: Correction: REV: 20090715 2004 — 2006 Ford Taurus Flex Fuel Option The operator of the vehicle may complain of long hard cranking when operating the vehicle with E85 fuel. A possible cause for this is the powertrain control module calibration file being out of date. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures for ensuring that the calibration file is according to TSB 06-5-5 (B42.1 or higher). NOTE if the vehicle contains E85 fuel drive the vehicle for 5 to 10 miles so that the engine is hot. This will allow the powertrain control module to adapt to the fuel and reduce the cranking time on the initial start after updating the calibration file. The initial crank cycle will be extended longer then normal after performing the update. All subsequent crank cycle times should be normal.
