LEXIE } TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: TBA Applications: 2011 Ford Fiesta Conditions: The operator of the vehicle may complain that the engine fails to start or that the engine cranks hard, makes noise when cranking or shifts erratically (on automatic transmission models). Additionally the malfunction indicator lamp may be illuminated. The technician may find one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes stored in the system memory: P0116 PO6B8 P0805 P0809 P0850 PO087A PO87E P0884 P2610 P283A P2831 P2832 P2832 P2835 P2836 P2837 P0700 Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is a flaw in the ground bolts at connections G100 and G106. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures to inspect and replace the grounding bolts. The heads of the bolt are marked with 010 for both the proper and improper ones, however, if there are a series of 4 raised dots above or below the digits they are the correct bolts. The bolt that is improper is marked with a ° symbol centered with the digits. See the figures below for clarification. If the bolt is correct ensure that the bolt is properly tightened to 13 Nm (115 LB-in).
