“dixie verse gy TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-6548 TBA Applications: 2007 — 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 6.6L Diesel 2007 — 2010 GMC Sierra 6.6L Diesel Condition: The operator of the vehicle may note that after a cold start that the “Service Charging System” message is displayed or the volt meter shows a lower then normal voltage reading. The technician may observe that diagnostic trouble code B1517 (battery voltage below threshold) is stored in the system. NOTE: The vehicle manufacture has indicated that an engine temperature below 40C or 100F is considered cold. Cause: A potential cause for the above condition is that the system draws too much current resulting in the voltage dropping below the lower threshold. Correction: The manufacturer recommends verifying that there are no other issues with the charging system and if none are found, to tell the customer to not worry about it and to explain that it is within the normal operating parameters.
