The technician may report that the vehicle is in the “limp home mode”, which is triggered when the car detects an issue that could pose a risk to the operator. Additionally wnen scanned for codes, diagnostic trouble code P0600 will be in the memory and possibly codes P0140, P0571 or P2101 may be retained. Cause: A potential cause for this is a low or weak battery. If the engine is started with a low or weak battery both the powertrain control module main computer and the sub-computer shut off. When the battery voltage returns to normal the main computer resets itself but the sub-computer does not. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended repair procedures when applicable which include testing the battery condition, resetting the powertrain control module sub-computer, reprogramming the radio and reprogramming the power windows.
