Cause: Potential causes for the above conditions are: a) Contamination in the fuel pressure regulator, resulting in the regulator sticking, causing a delay in pressure build up b) Exhaust gas back flow into the intake manifold when the engine is turned off. This may cause a poor fuel/oxygen ratio at the next start up. Correction: The manufacture has identified that the fuel pressure switch may require replacing and the engine control module/powertrain control module may require updating. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended diagnostic and repair procedures when required.
