chiwia . & | [| { 8 | anees / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: $-8738 Applications: 2005 — 2006 Toyota Corolla with 1ZZ-FE Engine 2005 — 2006 Toyota Matrix (2WD) with 1ZZ-FE Engine Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of an intermittent crank and no start condition or of an extended cranking cycle. The problem will be most evident after the vehicle has been parked for an extended period. Cause: A potential cause for the above problem is the fuel pump. Correction: To correct the issue, the manufacturer has modified the fuel pump. To determine if the fuel pump is the cause of the problem follow the manufacturers’ recommended procedures to test the fuel pump pressure. If found out of specification the following parts are available to remedy this situation (please note that the part numbers of the components have not been changed): – 77020-02180 — Fuel pump with gage tube assembly – 77144-04010 — Fuel pump gauge retainer – 77169-02050 — Fuel suction tube gasket set Follow the manufacturers’ recommended procedures to replace the fuel pump (if required).
