chiwia . & | [| { 8 | oxen / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-8193 S-8140 Applications: 1986 — 1989 Toyota Van Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions: e Insufficient battery charging. e Low battery. e Hard, slow or long cranking times e A failure to start. e Belt Squealing. e Severe belt wear/slippage. Cause: A potential cause for the above condition is moisture (and snow or slush in colder climates) contaminating the alternator drive belt. Correction: The manufacturer has engineered a retro fit cover/shield (Toyota number 27029-73030), which is to be installed next to the left frame rail below the alternator. The manufacturer recommends the installation of the shield kit when ever an alternator or belt replacement is done.
