ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, July 7, 2004 The meeting began at 7:05 pm eastern time via conference call. Alan Melton, Polly Shea, Chris Thompson, Mike Schroeder and Bob Thomas were present. First item of business was the planning meeting for the 2005 show, which had been tentatively set for September 11″ in King of Prussia, PA. Polly reported that two advisory board members had confirmed they could not make that date, two had responded maybe, and 13 members said they could attend. The remainder had not replied. Polly promised to contact those who had not replied, to ensure a majority would be present, then send out an email confirming the date and providing hotel information. Bob pointed out that we are again very close to being less than 60 days from the meeting, and the date needs to be confirmed and everyone notified within a few days. Next Bob reported on website progress. He said that building the membership portion of the site was taking Wes longer than expected, but assured everyone progress was being made daily. He said the public portions of the site are working now, including the “Find A Rebuilder” tool, and 99% of what is required to launch the site is complete but hidden from view. He reported that four suppliers had taken advantage of the 30 day free ad on the forum pages (note: two more since the meeting Wednesday night). He said the ads look good on the forum, and should help sell sponsorships of the website once we get to that point. Next topic was the progress on the publishing of the book. Bob reported that the large number of additions and changes had set back the planned publishing date. He said that Dennis Jacinto told him on Tuesday that nearly all the changes had been made, and Dennis would like one final proofing. Bob confirmed he has received a number of calls from members who were looking for the book to arrive three weeks after the show, and Alan suggested an email on the forum might be in order to keep members informed of the delay. Bob said he would post an email just as soon as he had a firm printing date. Mike reported that 48 copies have been sold, and that the envelopes to ship them are already addressed. He said the books could be shipped within a day of receiving them. The remaining three 2004 Keep It Current seminars were discussed next. Alan confirmed the Long Island seminar would be held at York College in Jamaica, Queens. Amsco-VF has agreed to hold an open house the Friday afternoon before the seminar. Dan Smith and Alan have lined up about a dozen suppliers who will help promote the seminar. The college will provide a lecture hall for the seminar in addition to a meal for up to 50 people. The closest hotels are at JFK Airport, 4-5 miles from the college. The college has plenty of parking for attendees who drive.
