ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Wednesday, February 2, 2005 The meeting began at 7:40 pm via conference call. Mike Schroeder, Alan Melton, Chris Thompson, & Bob Thomas were in attendance. Polly Shea did not attend, although she did call Alan that morning about the items on the agenda. First item discussed was the subject of getting new members copies of the newspaper in a more timely manner. Polly had asked that an up to date list of new members be provided to her on the 21* of each month, as opposed to having the month close at the end of the month. Bob suggested that Darlene generate a list on the 21“ of each month that would show all new members from the 1* to the 21“. The regular monthly report would be done in the normal manner. Mike said this was possible and all agreed it should begin this month. Bob also suggested that a current edition of the newspaper should be mailed out to new members with their membership packet. The office currently receives 10 copies of the paper, and in most cases, this will cover the new members. It was also suggested that a letter or note be added with the paper, explaining that a subscription has been paid in their name, and when to expect their first issue in the mail. The next topic of discussion was the selection of officers. As decided at a previous meeting, the board of trustees will serve as the nominating committee, with Alan serving as chairman. Alan had suggested printing an announcement in the paper about the open positions and the need for volunteers to serve as officers. Bob pointed out that any such announcement should be carefully worded, since the paper was being mailed to the entire industry. He suggested a first class letter to all members would be a better idea. After much discussion it was decided that Alan will contact every officer whose term expires, to determine if they desire to serve a second term. Following the next scheduled trustee meeting (Feb 16), a first class mailing will be used to inform the membership of the upcoming elections in May. Members who may be interested in volunteering will be directed to contact Alan. The mailing will also be used to communicate with members about the association budget and schedule of events, including seminars. It was decided that trustee positions should be filled by members who have as much previous association experience as possible. The slate of officers will be presented to the Board of Advisors two weeks prior to the show. At the Atlantic City advisory board meeting nominations may be taken from the floor, and the board will then be asked to approve the slate. This conforms with the procedures set forth in the by laws.
