ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Wednesday, January 4, 2006 The meeting began at 7:35 pm via a conference call. Mike Schroeder, Alan Melton, Dan Smith, Chris Thompson, Scott Fureman, Hank Henke and Bob Thomas were in attendance. The meeting began with discussion of the show. Bob suggested that Dick Vensel was capable of putting on a more in-depth demonstration if the association helped him out. He said a four-square island with a training demo on each corner, displayed on TV screens, would make an impressive addition to the show. Bob further added that Wes Grueninger is willing to tape the demonstrations and produce DVDs, for continuous showing. He said the ERA would have to provide TVs with DVD playing capability, and the extra booth. He noted that Dick normally buys 2 booths and Polly gives him an extra one for doing a demonstration. Dan agreed to talk to Polly about the idea, and the extra booth. Mike also suggested the demonstrations could be compiled on a single DVD for sale in the ERA booth. All agreed it was worth pursuing. Bob said he would call Dick the following morning, before going any further. On other show business, Dan reported that Polly mailed the show packets on December 19 and was already receiving response. The topic of name badges for the Tech Ed seminar was discussed and Hank suggested buying a label printer for that purpose. After a short discussion, all agreed on the purchase of the label printer. Dan noted that Traci needs information for the ERA column by January 10″. Bob said he had some material to send, but asked others to also send any association news they think is worth sharing. Mike noted the show booth committee needs to be formed quickly and Alan suggested posting an announcement on the Forums seeking volunteers. Bob agreed to post the announcements. Discussion of the show booth was put off until the committee can be formed. All agreed the booth committee should be involved in planning the booth as well as helping to occupy it during the show. Mike reported 37 new members joined during the fall membership drive, from September thru December. Ten of those came in as a direct result of the direct mail campaign. The next big drive for members will come at the show. Alan reported he is still in the process of forming the nomination committee. He said he needed a few more weeks. He also suggested inviting one advisory board member to each future board of directors meeting. All agreed this would enable advisory board members to become more involved and provide input on day-to-day operation of the association. Bob said he would start with the next meeting by inviting Dick Vensel.
