ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Wednesday, August 16, 2006 The meeting began at 7:45 pm via conference call. Mike Schroeder, Joe Davis, Alan Melton, Kenny Turner, Blaine White, Hank Henke, Chris Thompson, Scott Fureman and Bob Thomas were in attendance. The 2007 seminar schedule was the first item on the agenda. Joe reported the schedule was not quite finalized. Pros and cons of several locations were discussed, but feedback from potential hosts is required before a final schedule can be published. Alan reported on progress of the 2007 show in Portland and talked briefly about the planning meeting on September 26″. He asked if the ERA conference call number could be used for the meeting. Polly had said some members unable to travel were interested in participating in the meeting. Bob confirmed it could used and said Polly’s only cost would be the phone call from the hotel. Alan also said Polly suggested the ERA give a cash prize instead of the normal computer give-a-way. That suggestion was discussed with no final decision being made. Mike said that topic could best be discussed more at the planning meeting. Mike asked for a roll call of those planning to attend the meeting in Portland. It became apparent that a quorum would not be present to vote on ERA business, but it was agreed that phone calls could be made to non-attending officers if a vote is needed. Bob suggested a decision on offering free show admission should be made prior to the meeting. Mike and Alan asked Bob to place a poll on the ERA Board Forum so the decision can be made by the entire Board of Advisors. Alan asked the the entire proposal be explained in the poll. Mike asked that the poll be closed on Wednesday so he would know the results before leaving for Portland. The booth at the APRA show at Las Vegas in October was discussed next. Bob suggested reprinting the ERA deskmats with current contact information, and giving them away at the APRA show. He said it might help recruit members and it might also help supplier members who are all listed with phone numbers and web addresses on one side of the mat. Bob pointed out the deskmat needs to be reprinted either way. Mike, Chris & Bob agreed to get the listings updated and current so it could be printed prior to the Las Vegas show. Several in attendance at the meeting said they would be at the APRA show and agreed to help out with the booth. Kenny and Blaine reported on the progress the membership committee has made on the newspaper ad. Mike asked if the membership brochure should be reprinted. Everyone agreed it should but several mentioned the Uncle Sam cover art must be changed. Chris pointed out that membership benefits should be spelled out with emphasis on the technical information available on the website. Several suggested this should be in the newspaper ad too.
