ELECTRICAL REBUILDER’S ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Wednesday, April 18, 2007 The meeting began at 7:40 pm EST via conference call. Alan Melton, Dan Smith, Chris Thompson, Mike Schroeder, Blaine White, Kenny Turner, Scott Fureman, Jerry Kieffer, Larry Hagemeister, Jim Thomas, Hank Henke, Joe Davis, Mike Dietrch and Bob Thomas were in attendance. The first item on the agenda was the show and ERA booth. Larry reported all the prizes and give-a-ways are ready. Mike went over his list of items that must be shipped from the office this week. He also asked for input on the number of books and DVD’s needed. The method for running the drawing for the jackets was also discussed. Everyone agreed to meet at the ERA booth at 9 am Friday morning to help get it set up and settle any last minute issues. Mike reminded Bob to circulate the cell phone list again. The Board of Advisors meeting scheduled for Sunday, April 29 was discussed briefly. Mike suggested the following items be placed on the agenda: Treasurer’s Report Membership Report ERA Newsletter Seminars Website & Web Services Proposed Bylaws Changes Mike asked that any additions to be forwarded to him as soon as possible, but noted that items could be added at the show. Bob said he did not have an exact count, but estimates about 22 members of the Board of Advisors will attend the meeting. Membership was discussed next. Bob went over statistics from April 2006 through March 2007. Over that 12-month period, 64 new members were gained and 88 members were lost, a net loss of 24 members. Dan said that loosing two members a month was not bad considering the state of the industry. Bob and Mike both expressed concern in having any drop in membership. Bob pointed out that if the number of lost members could have been reduced by 50%, there would have been 20 member gain instead of the loss. Mike Dietrich suggested that funds be budgeted for membership retention in the future. Jim suggested more effort be put into making contact with members who do not renew their membership, possibly using a second phone call from a different person. Jerry said he has finished a draft newsletter, which could be used to make contact with members throughout the year and possibly help reduce the number of lost members. He promised to bring the newsletter to the show to be discussed at the meeting.
