New Delphi AD200 Alternator Series Introduced From Transpo Rebuilder’s Forum Some 1999 GM vehicles utilize the Delphi AD200 alternator series that is similar in appearance to the CS130D (see Figure 1). The name AD200 rep- resents an air-cooled design (A) with dual internal fans (D) second genera- tion (200). The AD200 series is de- signed for 150,000-mile service life and utilizes the latest in electronic tech- nology. Vehicle applications include the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Si- erra, 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L, Buick Park Avenue, Riviera, and Olds Intrigue with 3.8L, GM unit numbers 10480234, 10464405, 10480327, 10464408, AC Delco unit numbers 321-1749, 321-1752, and 321-1750. Alternator amperage versus rpm is presented in Chart 1. Note the en- hanced performance at idle rpm be- tween the CS130 and CS130D ver- AD-237 0/125 58/145 sus the AD200. Accordingly, the in- creased performance continues through the entire rpm range. Table 1 presents basic parameters for the three models of this series. In view of the higher amperage, i.e. 145 am- peres, the rectifier concept features more surface area with avalanche Bosch press fit diodes. Interesting how press fit diodes have surfaced again for the latest higher amperage require- ments. The stator is offset wound to reduce voltage ripples and provide a smoother, more consistent voltage. Another new feature of the AD237 is that the pulley has a clutch.
