ERA News New Bylaws Adopted at Show Following nearly a year of work, a new set of bylaws was officially adopted by the Electrical Rebuilder’s Association (ERA) Board of Advisors at the ERA Trade Show in Charlotte last month. Jody Nava and Scott Fureman served as the bylaws committee to see the project through to fruition. “While there have been no major changes, the new bylaws better define the structure and operation of the asso- ciation,’ said ERA Secretary Bob Thomas. (A copy of the new bylaws begins on page II of this issue.) Other highlights of the weekend included 15 new members signing on the dotted line at the ERA booth. This pushed membership over the 500 mark for the first time in the association’s history. One new member, Roger Jordan of Dean’s II, Inc., Greer, S.C., was particu- larly glad he joined after winning the ERA TV/VCR at the show reception. The other lucky winner, Alan Simpson of A&E Auto Electric in Spartanburg, S.C. took home the ERA grand prize Dell PC. When asked if he’d be using it at work, Simpson said: “We have plenty of computers at the shop. This one is going home. I’ve got three daughters who can really use it.” The Tech Ed DVDs demonstrated at the booth were a big hit and more than 50 were purchased by enthusiastic rebuilders. The DVD series includes not only a soldering demo, but the first of three Joe Davis classes held during the weekend seminars. Davis’s class “How Starters, Generators and Alternators Really Work,’ is normally held on Friday evenings only. Many volunteer hours were poured into production of these DVDs. For more information or to purchase a copy see the Tech Ed Seminar ad on page 20 of this issue. In other business, several new mem- bers were added to the board: Azam Rahamat, Anderson Auto Electric Co., Waterbury, Conn. Tom Talley, Talley Auto Truck Electric, Arlington, Texas Ken Plourde, Guy’s Electric Service, Inc., South Windsor, Conn. Jerry Kieffer, Allstart Auto Electric, Inc., Newport, Ore. Chris Galbreath, ASE Supply, Portland, Ore. Connard Cali, Perfect Fit Industries, Dublin, Calif. Dave Biehl, WRS-Allentown, Allentown, Pa. Blaine White, Auto Electric, Inc., Essex Junction, Vt. The following officers were elected to two year terms: Alan Melton, First Vice President Chris Thompson, Treasurer Scott Fureman, Southeast Regional Vice President Larry Hagemeister, Northwest Regional Vice President Blaine White, Northeast Regional Vice President Fraser Cox, Canadian Regional Vice President. For a complete listing of board members see page II of this issue of the Exchange.
