Network of Electrical Rebuilders Being Formed By Polly J. Ferree To Our Faithful Readers: My staff and I are very pleased to announce the creation of a nationwide network made up exclusively of auto- motive electrical rebuilders and sup- pliers. The new organization’s intent is to support research in the field that will provide members with the technical information, specifications and stan- dards needed to more effectively run their businesses. Additionally, support will be offered through the Electrical Rebuilder’s Exchange newspaper, E+ Show, and Rebuilder’s Trading Post web site in the way of more technical articles, seminars and training stations. We will also report regularly on over- all small business-related issues such as management and marketing, current state regulations, planning and an- nouncements. Research will be performed by various experts in the industry and sup- ported by your membership. Member- ship will require a modest investment and will be the same amount regard- less of your company size. Charter membership will be of- fered through the newspaper beginning September 2000, which also marks our 17th year of publication. During this year (for the first time ever) we have combined issues for a total of ten rather than the usual 12 (March/April, June/July), because of our focus on getting the network established by the fourth quarter of this year. Monthly publication will resume in 2001, as with all previous years. The Electrical Rebuilder’s Ex- change is a non-political publication, as is our new organization. Our goal is to provide a service to all electrical rebuilders who desire the support. There will be no prestige, favors or power gained from helping provide in- formation orusing that information. Our goal is simple—the common good of the industry. We have been working on these plans for many months, and although all of the details are not yet in place, it is appropriate to advise you that it is imminent. Getting under way at this pointis by design. This organization will unfold the way the rebuilder needs and wants it to, nothing will or should be set in stone, especially with the current state of the industry. Ideas will always be welcome, adaptation our corner- stone. Everyone will win. Thank you for bearing with us dur- ing this big step. I firmly believe the industry is ready and willing to sup- port our efforts. Watch for updates each month in the Exchange, as well as special mailings, as our electrical organization gets under way.
