Muy Buenos Dias Mi nombre es Juan Reyes y en esta nueva columna de_ su _ periddico “Electrical Rebuilder’s Exchange” estaremos compartiendo en nuestro propio idioma los problemas y las alegrias que nos hacen una industria diferentes. Para que nos vayamos cono- ciendo, les diré que soy un duefio de negocios desde afio 1985 cuando desde el garaje de mis padres, comenzamos a reconstruir alternadores y arranques en un espacio de 400 pies cuadrados de tamafio. Como se imaginaran la indus- tria automotriz es una de mis pasiones desde que lIlegue a este pais cuando comencé a trabajar a $4.00 por semana trabajando las tardes. Actualmente tenemos el negocio de alternadores y arranques, otro negocio donde ofrece- mos servicio y diagnosticos de sistemas computarizados y mecdanica en general, y ‘Liberty Training Institute’ donde estamos abriéndoles las puertas a los técnicos hispanos e incentivandolos para que se profesionalicen con clases y material en espafiol. Estamos ubicados en la ciudad de Paterson, NJ. Hoy en dia pienso que nosotros como hispanos, estamos mas listos que nunca para progresar en el campo automotriz. Dia a dia se necesitan mas técnicos, y nosotros podemos Ilenar ese vacio. Esta columna es un proyecto que surge de una conversacion que tuve con Polly Shea la editora de este periddico durante la exhibici6n el sébado 21 en Atlantic City, NJ. Le hable de una columna en espafiol, idea que Polly recibid con mucha emocién. En las proximas ediciones tendremos la oportunidad de compartir con ustedes diferentes temas que nos afectan en la industria y presentaremos soluciones a los problemas técnicos mas comunes. New Column Addresses Spanish-Speaking Community COLUMN BY JUAN REYES My name is Juan Reyes and in this new column of the Electrical Rebuilder’s Exchange we will be sharing in our own language the good and bad moments that make our industry unique. I started my business back in 1985 from a 400-square-foot garage behind my parent’s house. As you can imagine, the automotive industry is one of my passions ever since I came to this coun- try and started cleaning tools at a rate of $4 per week in the afternoons. Today we own a rebuilding shop, a general automotive repair shop, and recently we started “Liberty Training Institute” which is a vehicle to increase professionalism and bring forth the opportunities available to the Hispanic technicians with instructions and train- ing material in Spanish. We are located in Paterson, New Jersey. As Hispanics we are more than ready to progress in the automotive field. Every day more and more techni- cians are needed and we can surely fill that gap. This column is a project that came from a conversation that Editor Polly Shea and I had during the ERA Trade Show in Atlantic City; an idea which was received with much enthusiasm by both of us. In the next editions we’ll have the opportunity to share different topics that affect our industry and we’ll present solutions to your most common techni- cal problems. The technology is changing rapidly and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the new changes. I hope to awaken your interest and participation so that together we can develop a link for many.
