Delco 41MT Series Starters The Delco 41MT series starter was introduced in the 1990s as a “unit specially designed for mid-range die- sel applications and is also well suited for pick up and delivery operations that experience high frequency starts.” The line has evolved into 16 units broken down as show on the chart. Of special note is the Drain Hole found on two OEM units. (10479215 and 10479216). 10469216 is found on 2000/01 Ford F650 and F750 trucks equipped with 3126 CAT engines. The starter mounts with the solenoid hanging down towards the ground. In this position, condensation builds up in the plunger area and in very cold weather can/will freeze. The drain hole allows the con- densation to drain out of the housing. Unfortunately, the drain hole is very small (less than 5/32 of an inch) and with the housing facing downward, it clogs and/or gets completely covered in road debris very quickly. Also of note is the position of the ground stud. The C.E. ground stud is rotated 180 degrees or opposition to the solenoid. AUGUST, 2001 Page 1 of 1
