Condition: Various electrical concerns up to an including a vehicle fire. Cause: The positive alternator battery cable may have been routed resting against the engine control module mounting bracket. Over time the battery cable may chaff and deteriorate resulting in the positive battery cable shorting to ground. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures to inspect, replace when needed, reroute and install tie straps to prevent the cable from chaffing the engine module mounting bracket.
