LEXIE } TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: TBA Applications: 2011 Cadillac Escalade (all models) 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2011 Chevrolet Express (G series van) 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe 2011 GMC Savana 2011 GMC Sierra 2011 GMC Yukon Conditions: The operator of the vehicle may complain of a ticking noise that happens immediately after starting the engine. The ticking goes away after a short period of time. Cause: A potential cause for the above condition is that the starter may have been installed incorrectly during manufacturing. The vehicle manufacturer has identified that the wrong torque and sequence may have been followed. Correction: The manufacturer recommends loosening and re-torquing the mounting bolts. The proper sequence is to install the bolt closest to the engine block first finger tight only. Then install the second mounting bolt again finger tight only. Toque the bolt closest to the engine block first. Then torque the second bolt. The manufacturer’s recommended torque is 37 Ib ft (50 N m).
