Cause: A potential cause for the above condition is an improperly manufactured power steering pump pulley. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended diagnostic and repair procedures, which include placing a straight edge across the pulley and inspect the height of the hub. On the correct pulley, the hub extends approximately 5mm past the edge of the pulley. In contrast, the incorrectly manufactured pulleys extend approximately 2mm past the edge of the pulley. The replacement pulley is manufacturer’s number 12616121.
