The first indicates that the alternator may not produce enough amperage at idle allowing the lights to dim when at a stop. This is particularly evident during heavy load such as the lights and rear window defogger is on. The second bulletin indicates that there is a potential problem with the vehicle ignition switch being improperly indexed. An improperly indexed ignition switch could cause the accessories to malfunction, drain the battery when in the off position or cause intermittent no crank conditions. Correction: The manufacture suggests informing the customer of the reason for the lights dimming to allow the operator to either turn off some accessories or to increase the engine speed. For the ignition switch issues the manufacture recommends removing the ignition switch and reinstalling it ensuring that the gear is correctly positioned. Refer to the manufacturers’ documented procedures when performing this task.
