Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is a poor connection to the starter, the battery, or the grounding system in the vehicle. In addition several alarm systems, including the Goodwrench system may add enough resistance to the starter solenoid circuit to prevent the starter solenoid from engaging. The wiring in the alarm system may not be able to carry the total current required by the starter solenoid in all cases. Correction: Perform a voltage drop test on the starter system as defined in TSB-001 Voltage Drop Testing. Correct any voltage drop issues prior to proceeding. Check for alarm circuit wiring that may interfere with the starter operation and require the circuits using a larger gage of wire.
