chiwia . & | [| { 8 | anees / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-1289 A-1371 A-8260 A-8470 A-8471 S-1363 S$-1395 S-8418 S-8476 Applications: 1988 — 1994 Isuzu Pickup Condition: Cause: 1988 — 1994 Isuzu Trooper The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions: – The vehicle has low battery power. – The alternator has low out put. – The engine is hard to start or fails to start. A potential cause for the above conditions is the wiring harness on the rear of the alternator. From the factory the wires were routed through a metal retaining clamp. Vibration can cause the insulation to be rubbed off by the metal retaining clamp. Correction: The manufacturer suggests the following repairs: REV: 20100324 – Remove the wires from the wire retainer. – Insulate the wires with a thick covering to prevent chaffing (replace the wires if the conductors are damaged or corroded). Use electrical tape and loom to protect the wires. – Re-route the wires away from the rear of the alternator.
