The technician may observe that there are no trouble codes stored in the system. Cause: The manufacturer has identified several areas to inspect for quiescent draw in the system (also referred to as parasitic drain, parasitic load, quiet draw etc.). Areas of concern include but are not limited to: – An out-dated calibration file for the body control module. – Potentials short-circuit in the courtesy lighting system resulting in the fuse blowing (circuits 6815 and 6817). – Amalfunction in the rear door lock mechanism – ©0900 code stored in the system (over voltage) – Interior light left on. – Fuel pump relay staying on (buzzing at rear of vehicle). – Poor connections to the battery posts – Addition of after-market anti-theft devices. – Wires shorting or chaffing in the pillar Correction: Refer to TechTip TSB-006 for tips on how to perform the quiescent draw test and follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures to correct the problems as required.
