Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions when towing the vehicle behind a motor home or other vehicle: – The odometer accumulates the mileage while being towed. – The battery is discharged and/or goes completely dead. – The engine fails to start after towing. Cause: The instructions in the operator’s manual for towing the vehicle may be incorrect. Correction: For 2003 — 2010 models, without the column lock, the key should be turned to the off position when towing the vehicle. For 2010 models, with a column lock, the 2A DLIS fuse located in the UBEC must be removed and the ignition key must be in the accessory unlock position. Do not turn the key to the run position or the battery will be run down and die.
