They may also complain of noise/vibration and not being able to shift the transmission into forward and/or reverse. Cause: A possible cause for the above is a crack in the flexplate. Correction: Verify that one of the conditions defined above exists. If there is noise during starting verify that the starter functions correctly. If the condition still exists and the starter functions properly then inspect the flexplate. The manufacturer had an earlier flexplate that was prone to cracking. The suspect flexplate is identifiable by 3 large welding spots on the face of the plate evenly spaced around the opening.
