Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain that the “Check Gauges” lamp is illuminated on the dashboard. They may also observe that the battery charge gauge is reading approximately 11 volts instead of the 14-volt range. There may or may not be a check engine or malfunction indicator lamp on. The technician may observe the following diagnostic trouble codes stored in the system: e P2502 – Charging system error e P2503 – Charging system output low e P2509 – Power-down data lost Cause: A possible cause is the calibration file in the Powertrain Control Module. Correction: Before replacing any components in the electrical system check if the factory installed calibration file was updated. The update should be noted as a factory authorized modification and a decal referencing TSB 18-001- 07. The decal will be located near the vehicle emissions control label.
