chiwia | # | [ { 8 | anees / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-8890 Applications: 2000 — 2001 Mazda MPV Condition: The charge light could be coming on intermittently and/or the vehicle may exhibit hard to start symptoms. Cause: Road salt and/or other chemicals used to melt the snow in winter months could cause corrosion inside the alternator. Correction: Follow the manufacturers procedure for removing the alternator. Remove and discard the small steel bracket and replace it with GY01-18-300R-0J. The new shield may have already been replaced during a previous vehicle service and can be identified by the alternator belt guard, which the one from the factory did not have. The GY01-18-300R-0J outline is shown below for reference. Reinstall the alternator following the manufacturers recommended procedure.
