The technician may find the starter motor has been burnt out and is not functional. Cause: A potential cause for the above conditions is a flaw in the fuel delivery system. If the vehicle is parked with less then 1/8″ of a tank of fuel on an incline the fuel pump may not be submerged in fuel. Faulty check valves, which normally keep fuel in the pump, may allow fuel to seep out and prevent the vehicle from starting. Repeated attempts to start the vehicle may cause the starter to overheat and burn out prematurely. Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended repair and replacement procedures when applicable.
