chiwia . & | [| { 8 | LD f TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: A-80027 and S-8777 Applications: 2002 — 2003 Kia Sedona Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of intermittent hard starting or requiring a boost to get the vehicle going. The issue will predominantly be after the vehicle has sat for a number of days. Cause: A potential cause is quiescent draw (parasitic drain) caused by a faulty driver’s seat lumbar support switch. Correction: To test if the cause is the driver’s side lumbar support switch perform the following test: e Ensure that the battery is fully charged e Close all the doors and ensure all the accessories are off e Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery e Connect an ammeter in series (one end to the negative battery wire and the other to the negative battery terminal). The draw should be less then 30 milliamps. e lf itis more then 30 milliamps disconnect the driver’s seat lumbar support switch. Recheck the draw as described above If the draw is still in excess of 30 milliamps check for after-market products (radios, amplifiers etc.) and other circuits for the source of the quiescent draw. e Ifthe draw has dropped below 30 milliamps then the switch must be replaced (part number 1K56E 88 104). e Recheck the system as described above.
