chiwia . & | [| { 8 | anees / TECH TIPS Dixie Part Numbers: Not available S-80408 Applications: 2008 — 2009 Scion xD 2009 Toyota Corolla 2009 Toyota Matrix Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of one or more of the following conditions: – the engine cranks but fails to start – the engine cranks for an extended period prior to starting – the malfunction indicator lamp (engine warning lamp) is illuminated The technician may find diagnostic trouble codes P030x or P0015 stored in the vehicles Powertrain Control Module (Engine Control Module). Cause: A possible cause for the above conditions is an out of date logic file in the Powertrain Control Module. Correction: If the vehicle exhibits the above conditions check under the hood for a decal showing Authorized Modifications the change authority should reference either S-SB-0032-09 on the Scion or T-SB-0032-09 on the Toyota applications. If there is no decal the Powertrain Control Module requires updating. Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures for updating the logic file.
