The problem will occur predominantly when the vehicle has been driven a short distance and then stopped for a short period (30 — 40 minutes) before restarting. Cause: A potential cause for the above is the number 1 and 2 main relay contacts. The relay warms upon starting but develops frost on the contacts when cooling. Correction: Mazda has redesigned the relays and they are available as part number B630-18-811 from Mazda. Replacing the relays is a simple, remove the old one and install the new one and connect the added ground wire present on the new relays and not the old ones following the manufacturers recommended procedures.
